Episode 18: Scaring Snakes

Shhh! You scared it away!

Hi friends,

This week we’re continuing our theme of “not fooling anyone”. Today’s idiom is 打草惊蛇 (dǎ cǎo jīng shé). Literally: Hit the grass, scare the snake. It means acting too soon or carelessly and alerting your opponent

I’ll be honest and say that I’ve never hear anyone use this outside of dramas and books. Still valuable vocab to know! Maybe time to watch the newest Jin Yong drama remake?

I’m planning to do a bonus episode when we hit 88 subscribers! If you have a moment, please support BecomingLanguage by spreading the word.
